PRESIDENT BUSH THANKED PRESIDENT MESIC

"On behalf of the American people let me express my deep gratitude to you and to the Croatian people for the condolences and concern that you showed after the September 11th terrorist attacks", says the message by the American President George W. Bush to the Croatian President Stjepan Mesic.

As reported on Friday from the Office of the President, Bush regrets that the meeting of the two presidents on September 24th could not be held as planned. However, President Bush is convinced that the close relation between the two countries will be enhanced by a joint fight against the common enemy-global terrorism.

"Freedom was attacked on September 11th ,and freedom will be defended. The values and determination common to both of our nations are essential for combating terrorism in the world. I expect cooperation with you in facing this challenge. The fight will perhaps last long, but your solidarity and support give us strength", concludes the American President in the message sent to President Mesic.
