Croatian President Tells Arafat of Need for Peaceful Middle East solution

 

New York, Nov 11, 2001 – Croatian President Stjepan Mesic ended his visit to the UN and the United States by talking with the President of the Palestinian self-government Yaser Arafat.

Mesic confirmed the Croatian standpoint to the Palestinian leader that a permanent and peaceful political solution was necessary for solving a long-term Middle East crisis, and invited Mr. Arafat to visit Croatia.

President Mesic visited Israel in November, where he met President Moshe Katsav and spoke in Israeli Parliament, Knesset..He also visited the Yad Vashem.
