Croatian President and foreign minister held bilateral meetings in New York

 

During an official lunch organized by the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan President Mesic extended an invitation to Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf to visit Croatia.

During a meeting with Albanian President Rexhep Meidani, President Mesic and President Meidani confirmed their countries’interest in continuing and improving cooperation between the two countries.

A meeting with chairman of the Bosnian Council of Ministers Zlatko Lagumdzija was part of efforts to facilitate the conclusion of several agreements.

During the Croatian Foreign Ministers’ Tonino Picula meeting with Algerian Foreign Minister Abdelaziz Belkhadem, the two sides expressed hopes to renew the business cooperation between Croatian and Algerian companies. Croatia expects the Algerian government to solve the issue of compensation to the families of 13 Croatian workers of the Zagreb-based Hidroelektra company, killed by Islamic extremists at a construction site in Algier in 1993.

Minister Picula held a meeting with Austria’s Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero Waldner as a part of regular consultations with Croatia’s neighboring countries.

Minister Picula also met Iranian Foreign Minister Kharzzi and European Commision Foreign Secretary Chris Patten, as well as signed the Convention on banning the terrorism financing.

Minister Picula had a meeting with UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan and President of the 56th session of the UN General Assembly, dr. Han Seung Soo.

His other activities included meetings with Foreign ministers of Cuba, Spain, Ucraine, Montenegro, Chile, Gambia, while he also met representatives of American Jewish Committee and gave a lecture at the University of Columbia...

President Mesic and minister Picula held a brief meeting with Slovene President Milan Kucan and Foreign minister Dimitrij Rupel.

Croatian delegation also had a dinner with the representatives of Croatian-American community.
