The Embassy of the Republic of Croatia is issuing the following statement regarding the 3rd of October tragic event on the Greyhound bus in Manchester, TN:

Ambassador Grdesic would like to express his deepest sympathy to all those affected by the tragic and unfortunate incident on the Greyhound bus.

After learning that the attacker on the bus was holding a Croatian passport, the Embassy has contacted and offered assistance to the appropriate institutions so that the positive identity of the attacker could be approved. The verification of the attacker's identity has not been officially announced by either the Croatian or the American authorities.

The Embassy would like to point out, quoting the official stand by the FBI, that the incident is an isolated act of a deranged individual and has no relation to the terrorist acts of September 11th in New York City and Washington, D.C.

Ambassador Grdesic sent letters of condolence to the Department of State, Transportation and to the Greyhound Bus Company offering sympathy to the victims' families and friends on behalf of the Embassy staff and himself.
