Rochester, NY, Dec. 5 2001 – Upon invitation extended from the American Committees on Foreign Relations, Rochester Committee, Croatian ambassador to the U.S. Dr. Ivan Grdesic will visit Rochester on Dec 4 and will hold a presentation at the Rochester Country Club.
The focus of the presentation titled Croatian Second Transition is the overall democratic transition in Croatia, the exterior policy priorities and successes. The nature of the presentation is related to political science as well as politics and diplomacy in general.
During his stay in Rochester, Ambassador Grdesic also met with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) President Dr. Albert Simone and several RIT deans and professors involved in the American College of Management and Technology (ACMT) in Dubrovnik, Croatia. The ACMT in Dubrovnik was created in 1997 as a collaborative effort between the RIT and Veleuciliste u Dubrovniku (The Polytechnic of Dubrovnik) and provides student exchange opportunity, multi-cultural learning environment as well as diplomas recognized in both U.S. and Croatia. The curriculum of the American College is oriented towards management, hospitality and service based business, and therefore of great importance to Dubrovnik, a tourism-hub of Croatia.
Croatian ambassador and RIT discussed details and results of this successful project; being the first full-scale educational program that was launched in Croatia by a private American educational institution. Croatian ambassador and his hosts also discussed plans to be executed in the future. As during his previous visit to Indiana University in Bloomington, Dr. Grdesic offered all possible future assistance on his own as well as on behalf of the Embassy of Republic of Croatia.
