CROATIAN SECOND TRANSITION
CROATIAN AMBASSADOR TO THE U.S. DR. IVAN GRDESIC
LECTURED AT INDIANA UNIVERISTY
Ambassador Grdesic also met with Indiana University professors that are establishing a Master of Business Administration program in Zadar, Croatia.
Washington DC, Nov. 28, 2001 – Upon invitation extended from Indiana University, Bloomington, Workshop in Political Theory and Policy Analysis, Croatian ambassador to the U.S., Dr. Ivan Grdesic was a guest-lecturer at Indiana University on Nov. 26 and 27 and held a colloquium presentation. Students and professors from Indiana University attended the presentation titled “Croatian Second Transition” and actively participated with questions and remarks.
The focus of the presentation was on Croatian democratic transition and exterior policy priorities and successes. “The presentation and dialogue that followed were more of politologyst nature, not political – diplomatic since the audience was an academic one,” said Dr. Grdesic and added “the questions from the well-informed public dealt with forming of Croatian institutions, political parties dynamics and election legislature, as well as the overall democratic transition in Croatia.”
During his stay at Indiana University, ambassador Grdesic also met with the representatives of Indiana University that are, in cooperation with Croatian universities, conducting a joint project of establishing a postgraduate business administration studies program (Master of Business Administration, MBA) in Zadar, Croatia.
The project was initiated by a consortium of all four of Croatian Economy Faculties and Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business, and is financially supported by the U.S. Department of State.
Croatian Ambassador and Indiana University’s dean, Prof. Bruce Jeffee and global programs director, professor Louise Siffin discussed details of joint project, its existing plans as well as program of the studies. Dr Grdesic also offered possible future assistance on his own as well as on behalf of the Embassy of Republic of Croatia.
Prior to assuming his ambassadorial duties, Dr. Ivan Grdesic was professor at the Faculty of Political Science, Zagreb University, Croatia, where he earned his PhD in political science. He is author of several books and scientific articles, and has taught at several postgraduate courses.
