AMBASSADOR MIOMIR ZUZUL HONORED WITH KING LEGACY AWARD

        On Sunday, January 16, 2000, in Washington, D.C., the Committee for the International Salute to the Life and Legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will be presenting H.E. Miomir Zuzul, Croatian Ambassador to the United States, with the prestigious King Legacy Award for Outstanding International Service.

        For nearly a decade, the International Salute has recognized prominent academic, business, diplomatic and religious leaders, from both the national and international arenas, for their contributions to the appreciation and greater understanding of the life and work of Dr. King and his message of peace and justice.

        The following individuals will be joining Ambassador Zuzul as distinguished honorees in this year’s International Salute:

Mohammed Ali, World Boxing Champion
H.E. Juergen Chrobog, Ambassador, Federal Republic of Germany
Hon. Edward M. Kennedy, United States Senator
Her Majesty Queen Noor, Queen of Kingdom of Jordan
General Colin Powell, Chairman, America’s Promise
Chris Rock, Emmy Award-nominated actor and comedian
 

        Past recipients of the King Legacy Award include Kofi Annan, Secretary General of the United Nations; Senator Robert Dole; Alexis M. Herman, U.S. Secretary of Labor; Rev. Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., President and Founder, Rainbow/PUSH Coalition; Representative Sheila Jackson Lee; and the late Ronald H. Brown, U.S. Secretary of Commerce.
