OF THE EMBASSIES OF CROATIA AND SLOVENIA
On May 4, 1999, two delegations and Ambassadors of our countries (H. Kacic, N. Madey, L. Alajbeg, Amb. Zuzul of Croatia and P. Tos, M. Skrk, B. Bohte and Amb. Rupel of Slovenia) met in Washington with Dr. William Perry, former Secretary of Defense.
They discussed the remaining problems concerning borders, as mandated by their respective governments. The meeting provided a new and good opportunity to exchange views and seek solutions which would additionally improve good bilateral relations and enhance the international position of both countries.
The meeting showed that most problems between the countries are actually resolved and that the remaining could be resolved in a relatively short time. Both delegations expressed appreciation for Dr. Perry’s efforts, especially regarding the advise to consider new innovative solutions.
The group has decided to meet again while seeking innovative approaches,
and Dr. Perry agreed to continue in his advisory capacity, as long
as progress is being made.
