Ambassador Zuzul Presented his Credentials to the Mexican President
Washington, March 16, 1999 - Croatian Ambassador Dr. Miomir Zuzul, on Tuesday, March 16, 1999, presented his credentials to Mexican President Ernesto Zedillo. Croatian President Dr. Franjo Tudjman named Dr. Miomir Zuzul Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the United Mexican States with the seat in Washington. Dr. Miomir Zuzul is the first accredited Croatian Ambassador to Mexico.
Ambassador Zuzul delivered to the Mexican President greetings from the Croatian President and announced a visit by Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mate Granic to Mexico in the near future. President Ernesto Zedillo Ponce de León returned greetings to President Tudjman along with expressing a desire to forward bilateral relations between Mexico and Croatia. The Mexican President expressed an understanding for the difficulties Croatia had to endure on its path to independence, and congratulated Croatia on the advances it has made to date.
The formal ceremony in which the Croatian Ambassador's credentials were presented took place in the presidential palace Palacio Nacional in Mexico City.
Earlier, Ambassador Zuzul meet with the Mexican Minister of Foreign Affairs Rosario Green and presented her with a copy of his credentials.
Ambassador Zuzul also meet with Croatian immigrants in Mexico during a dinner which was organized by the Croatian Mexican Association in his honor on Tuesday night. Even though the Croatian community in Mexico is not as large as in other Latin American countries, they are well represented in the economy and social life in Mexico.
Croatia and Mexico have had diplomatic relations since December 11, 1992. The two countries have ties in culture, science and technology, trade and economy.
