CROATIA AND NATOCroatia understands the NATO enlargement as a process for building a stable, peaceful and undivided Europe, but also as a vehicle of a fruitful and mutually beneficial Transatlantic cooperation. Croatia shares the common vision of security, cooperation and solidarity as the fundamentals of the North Atlantic Alliance. Croatia is aware that the NATO membership requests some very strict criteria to be met, and it brings additional serious responsibilities. However, the Government and President of the Republic of Croatia, all oppositional parties and the vast majority of the population support the NATO membership. As a member of the PfP and EAPC, Croatia is already strongly committed to act as a de facto NATO ally in the international campaign against terrorism. Croatia considers a full membership of NATO as the most efficient investment in the permanent stability and prosperity of South Eastern Europe. |
