Washington, D.C., February 8, 2005 – The 45th anniversary of the death of Cardinal Alojzije Stepinac was marked with Holy Mass and a gathering of Croats in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday. Cardinal Stepinac was the symbol of the preservation of the Catholic faith and the Croat national identity. Holy Mass, celebrated by Rev. Francis Moloney, Dean of the School of Theology and Religious Studies at the Catholic University of America, and Rev. Damir Stojić, Pastor of the Croatian Pastoral Mission, was attended, among others, by Croatian Ambassador to the United States Neven Jurica and Croatian Culture Minister Božo Biškupić, who was in Washington during an official visit to the U.S.
