Croatian Prime Minister Sanader Attends Croatian Fraternal Union’s 110th Anniversary Celebration
Pittsburgh, September 26 - Croatian Fraternal Union celebrated its 110th anniversary today. Prime Minister, Dr. Ivo Sanader, Croatian Cardinal Josip Bozanic, Minister of Foreign Affairs Miomir Zuzul, Minister of Culture Bozo Biskupic Croatian Ambassador to the United States, Neven Jurica, attended the celebration.
In his speech, Prime Minister Sanader called on the unity of all Croatians, the emigrants and those living in Croatia. He noted that there are two main goals of Croatia, which are membership in the EU and NATO. The Prime Minister concluded that Croatians, now that they have their own state, will as a result be able to work towards their ideals, adding that Croatia has to ensure good living conditions so that Croatian emigrants will want to come back to live in their homeland.
On the occasion of the 110th anniversary a Holy Mass was held at Cathedral of St. Paul in Pittsburgh, and was lead by Cardinal Bozanic. He emphasized the permanent bond between Croatian emigrants in North America and the Croatian Catholic Church, thanking them for all they have done for their homeland and the Church.
