Sarajevo, October 29 - On October 28 and 29, high-ranking police officers from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Serbia-Montenegro, Bulgaria and Romania, convened in Sarajevo for a two-day meeting of the Committee for the Fight Against Organized Crime, which was set up as part of the South-East Police Commissioners' Association (SEPCA).
The first results of the regional cooperation in fighting organized crime were discussed, especially crack-downs on networks of criminals involved in trafficking of humans, money forgery and theft of cars as well as arms smuggling.
The senior police officials also discussed the forthcoming assembly of the SEPCA that will be held in Tirana, Albania at the end of year. That meeting should mark the beginning of a phase in which the said countries would join in a regional struggle against the following forms of organized crime: the struggle against car theft and illegal car dealing, the struggle against terrorism, the prevention of illegal migrations and people trafficking, the fight against drug trafficking, money laundering, and different forms of smuggling.
SEPCA was established in the Croatian coastal city of Pula in January 2002.
