San Pedro, CA, September 24 - At the initiative of representatives of Croatian union in San Pedro, the head of city council of Los Angeles Janice Hahn strongly supported the proposal that a part of street in San Pedro, on which the Croatian-American club is also situated, be renamed “Croatian Place”.
There were many Croats of San Pedro present at the city council meeting, including the president of “Croatian-American Club” Josip Mardesic and general consul of Republic of Croatia Sanja Bujas Juraga. The Croats of San Pedro feel that “Croatian Place” is a symbolic acknowledgment of Croatian community’s significant contribution to American community in San Pedro area.
A few months before, Hahn successfully completed a proposal to rename another street in San Pedro after a recently deceased Ante Perkov, the owner of the most famous Croatian restaurant “Ante’s”.
