Croatian Minister of Defense meets with Congressman Radanovich

Washington DC, July 22 - Congressman George Radanovich (R-Mariposa) joined Berislav Roncevic, Minister of Defense of Croatia, Neven Jurica, Croatian Ambassador appointed to U.S., Dr. Jelena Grcic Polic, Assistant Minister of Defense of Croatia, Lieut. Col. Damir Terzic, Croatian Defense Attache and their delegation for a lunch summit and press conference immediately following on Thursday, July 22.

"There is no price tag on international peace," Radanovich said. "It's simply priceless."

"I am proud to represent America, as one with Croatian ancestors, to maintain and strengthen such a vital relationship between our countries. I know the sessions here in Washington will only further solidify our strong friendship with Croatian defense."

Minister Roncevic is lawyer by profession. He is married, with four children. Previously, he was member of Croatian Parliament and mayor of the town of Nasice in the Eastern Croatian region of Slavonia.

"I am looking forward to helping foster and enhance the military cooperation between the United States and Croatia to a higher level," Roncevic said. "Today's visit to Congress is important to my Government and to me because of overall U.S. - Croatian bilateral relations and its impact on both peoples.

"I am pleased that U.S. remains Croatian biggest and strongest partner in bilateral military cooperation. Congressional support to Croatia's NATO membership is valued and I am glad we had an open and frank discussion about it with our Croatian friend on the Hill, Congressman George Radanovich."

Recognizing a common interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation and promoting international peace, security and stability, the U.S. Department of Defense and the Croatian Ministry of Defense held the second session of Bilateral Defense Consultations in Washington, D.C. on July 22-23, 2004 in the Pentagon. The goals of these consultations are to exchange information and expand areas for cooperation between two defense establishments.
