Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets USAID Administrator

Washington, March 26 - Croatian Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Miomir Zuzul met the administrator of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), Andrew S. Natsios, to discuss the agency's activities in Croatia.

After the talks, Minister Zuzul said he and Natsios talked about the future of the USAID mission in Croatia. Croatia could be satisfied with its cooperation with the USAID which had so far invested about US360 million in the country, Minister Zuzul said.

The USAID plans to discontinue its assistance to Croatia by 2006 because it believes Croatian society and democracy is developed and that Croatia needs the assistance intended for countries in transition no longer.

During his stay in Washington, Minister Zuzul also met with Dr. Cesar Gaviria, Secretary General Organization of American States (OAS).
