The new Croatia - Harvard Initiative

University of Zagreb Medical School established Medical studies in English

Zagreb, June 10 – University of Zagreb Medical School has established Medical studies in English that will start in the fall of 2003. Zagreb Medical School has thus joined the growing number of medical schools in Central and Eastern Europe which offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in English.

In designing the program, Zagreb Medical School extensively collaborated with Harvard Medical International, a subsidiary corporation of Harvard University, which has served worldwide as a catalyst for the constant improvement in medical education.

The new curriculum for medical studies in English is designed to conform with American and European standards for undergraduate medical education as well as international validation exams.

The English program of medical studies is aimed at foreign citizens who are interested in pursuing their academic career abroad and Croatians living abroad interested in studying in the country of their ancestors.

Established in 1917, Zagreb Medical School has had a long tradition of reaching out to foreign students due to its high standards and quality offered in their medical-based programs. The new Croatia - Harvard Medical International Initiative will further improve the trend by fostering integration into the international community of medical schools.

The project is also launched with support of the Croatian Ministry of Health, with whom the Zagreb Medical School has had a tradition of successful cooperation in many projects.

The medical studies in English will last six years and will begin at the school year 2003/2004.
