Washington, November 26, 2003 - The Task Force for International Cooperation on Holocaust Education, Remembrance and Research will hold its plenary meeting in Washington DC on December 1-3, 2003.
A Croatian working group has been operating within the Task Force since October 2002, with the aim of promoting Holocaust educational and memorial programs in Croatia.
The group functions in Croatia with the assistance of Mrs. Natasa Jovicic, director of the Public Institution of Jasenovac Memorial Area. The Governments of Croatia and the United States provide cooperative leadership to the Croatian working group. As a result of this joint effort, numerous activities in the field of Holocaust education are held yearly in Croatia.
Croatian Government has recently decided to implement the Day of Remembrance of the Holocaust and for the prevention of crimes against humanity, in cooperation with the Jasenovac Memorial Area and the Jewish Community in Zagreb.
Participants at the conference in December will discuss new ideas for similar projects in Croatia and elsewhere. The Croatian working group will meet on Tuesday, December 2.
