Croatian Ambassador expressed condolences over death of former BiH president

Washington, October 21 - Croatian Ambassador to U.S., Dr. Ivan Grdesic, expressed his and his government’s condolences to the citizens and government of Bosnia and Herzegovina on the occasion of the death of Alija Izetbegovic, former president of Bosnia and Herzegovina.  An official book of mourning was opened for public signature at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Washington, D.C.  In honoring the former president, Ambassador Grdesic wrote:            

On the occasion of death of Mr. Alija Izetbegovic, former president of Bosnia and Herzegovina, I offer my sincere condolence in the name of Government of Republic of Croatia.  Mr. Izetbegovic contributed immensely to establishment of independent Bosnia & Herzegovina in difficult years of war and he will undoubtedly go into history as a great leader of Bosnian people.  He will also be well remembered for his contribution to development of friendly neighboring relations between Republic of Croatia and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
