THE LEGALIZATION OF THE FOREIGN
PUBLIC DOCUMENTS
The Republic of Croatia and the U.S.
request the legalization of foreign public documents according
to the rules of the Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of legalization
for Foreign Public Documents of 1961. This means that documents for use
in both countries should be legalized by a Notary Public and by the
Hague Apostille. The Hague Apostille must be obtained from the office in
the state which issued the public document (certificate). If the documents
will be used in the Republic of Croatia, they must be translated in to
the Croatian language.
If the applicants are Croatian citizens,
the legalization also may be done at the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia,
or by the Croatian Consulates General in New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. Legalization
must be done in person at the Croatian diplomatic
and consular offices in U.S. The fee is 14.00 USD and can be paid by personal
check or money order.
Please be
advised that the Embassy no longer accepts legalization of the U.S. Notary
Public seals.
